Christmas is a happy time for many people, but, for others, it simply heightens their sadness.

For anyone who has recently lost a loved one, anyone who is going through a divorce or a relationship break-up, Christmas can be the loneliest of times – even when you are in a room full of people.

Depression and sadness are feelings which often lead to people avoiding interactions with others and avoiding social gatherings – which leads to isolation and further unhappiness.

It becomes a vicious circle.

For anyone who is experiencing feelings like this over the next week, when, all around them, others are having fun and enjoying the Christmas festivities, please consider talking to me, as a counsellor, to help you to overcome your depression and sadness.

Life is too short to spend it feeling unhappy every day.
